Fresh Out Of College Want A Job?

We are often asked “how do I get a job in the legal industry as a new paralegal”? Our advice is simple, start at the bottom and work your way up, just like any other industry.

Don’t be deceived into thinking college prepared you for a job in the legal industry. It didn’t. There is a huge gap between what you learn in college and what is expected of you on the job.

College is only one part of the equation— experience is the other.

The best way to get experience is to accept an entry level position at a firm you want to work at and work yourself up. There is no shame in starting at an entry level position.

In fact, starting at an entry level position gives you a chance to become invaluable.

No other role in the company gets more exposure than a legal receptionist gets. In this position you will get a chance to meet everyone in the office and build cross functional skills that are critical for future roles.

If you are good at your position, you will soon become the go-to person, pulled in to help the paralegals on cases, and in time promotions are sure to follow.

Take your time and build a solid foundation, I have seen paralegals accept paralegal positions right out of college without the experience needed and they are swallowed alive by the amount of work expected of them.

Don’t be that person get the training you need to be a stand out Paralegal.
